Fear No Fear

“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. There shall be no more death.’ Neither shall there be any more sorrow nor crying nor pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4, MEV). God loves us enough to weep over us. Certainly there will be tears by humanity in the process of the end of all things. We’ll see the judgment of God. We’ll see the people who refused to be saved. We’ll know some of them. We will be sorrowful over it. And we will cry. But God will be right there beside us crying as well. No more chances. No more opportunities for repentance. Humanity will have made its final choice, and that is it. Decision made. Destination reached. What a sad day for Him. What a horrible, terrible, no good day. His creation. Made by His own hands. Meant for fellowship. A relationship. And on that day, absolute and total separation. By their own choice. Jesus WEPT for Jerusalem and the destruction that was coming its way. That was a minute fraction of what He will feel on that day. God loves us SO MUCH. This is why Jesus came as our sacrifice. This is why God never left humanity’s side. This is why God comes again and again to offer us the chance for repentance. God doesn’t want ANY SINGLE HUMAN BEING to be lost. Not ONE. He doesn’t want to have to shed those tears. He doesn’t want to have to see ours. He doesn’t like sorrow and grief and torment. He doesn’t like ANYTHING relating to death and rebellion. He is a God of LIFE. Of LOVE. But He is righteous and just and will do what He must do. Given a choice, everyone would be saved. It is US who need to make that choice. It is US who need to decide to reject the world and the knocking of sin on our door. It is US who need to choose God and His moral character. Every time. We might not be perfect at it, but we should be moving ever forward. Ever closer to Him. Doing what we need to do to get a hold of His point of view and learn what it is, so that we can grab a hold of it for ourselves. So that His point of view becomes our point of view. That His moral character becomes the moral character that we are developing. So that the mind of Messiah is something we are emulating and studying and paying rapt attention to. So that we are walking with Him, humbly submitted, hand in hand, worshipping our Lord and Saviour and God with obedience. Yes, we will cry right beside God on that day. But His tears and our tears will be wiped away never to return. Together. Forever.
