“My covenant I will not violate nor alter the word that has gone out from My lips” (Psalm 89:34, MEV). God loves us enough to keep His promises. He keeps His covenants. This is why Jesus commanded us to remember the covenant between Himself and the Father (Luke 22:19-20). It’s important that we remember the promises and covenants that God has made with us and to us. Because He is going to keep them. He ALWAYS keeps His promises. If He says something will be, then it WILL be. It cannot be stopped. We can delay Him through our disobedience or rebellion (Psalm 78:41), but the promise isn’t stopped. It’s US that is effected. WE lose out on timing or on the thing that happens. God is never stopped (Isaiah 14:27). The thing He says will come to pass comes to pass. God loves us too much to alter His nature. His nature is truth. He is a promise keeper. He is a covenant honourer. God isn’t as concerned about time as we are. He isn’t watching the clock the way we do. When He gives a promise, He doesn’t attach time to it. Sometimes He tells us an order to it, something that will happen first or that it will happen before something else. But a specific time isn’t placed on it. He encourages us not to place a specific time on it either. Time isn’t the important part of the exchange. The trustworthiness of the Lord is the important part. The truth that we can rely on Him. That what He says will be because He said it. God has never failed to deliver on what He said He would deliver. We have moved from the delivery spot, but the delivery always arrives where He says it will. When we see a promise of God in the Word, we can trust it. We can rely on it. We can align with it and stand on it and it will come to pass. God can be trusted. God can be relied on. God keeps covenant. God keeps His promises. Every time.
