“When you pass through waters, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame kindle on you” (Isaiah 43:2, MEV). God loves us enough to have a saving hand stretched out to us no matter where we are or what we are doing. God saves us from ungodliness by being our escape. Sometimes we end up blind to something that seeks to snare us. Sometimes He changes our timing to we miss something that seeks to snare us. Sometimes it is right there, but we have Him to hold to in order not to grab at what seeks to snare us. I’m sure there are dozens of other ways He has to help us keep from being snared. What they all have in common is Him. He is right there. Whether He is speaking to us, reminding us of what He has already said, bringing someone across our path to help us, sending angels to minister to us, or whatever it is, He is right there with us. He doesn’t leave us. There is ALWAYS a way that we can lean into Jesus and keep ourselves from picking up what would snare us (1 Corinthians 10:13). It is VERY difficult to step wrong when we are choosing to praise the Lord – even when it’s in our heads. It is VERY difficult to step wrong when we are reciting the Word with the intent of choosing it over whatever it is that is around us. It’s like counting to ten out loud while also thinking of a grey elephant. We either skip the image or we stop speaking. It is VERY difficult to do both at once. When something tries to snag us, we can remember what the Word has to say on it. When our attention is trying to be grabbed, we can sing a praise song – even ones we learned as children. We can choose to focus ourselves on the Lord instead of letting ourselves focus on ungodly behaviour. We can choose. That is an AMAZING gift. And it is available all the time because God is RIGHT THERE beside us ALL THE TIME. He is MORE THAN ENOUGH for anything we have coming against us. He is right there saving us from ungodliness if we will let Him. If we will choose Him. If we will lean into Jesus and let Jesus be our strength. Temptation has NOTHING that Jesus can’t overcome. Lean into Jesus. He’s our Saviour. Let Him save you from everything all the time. The little and the big. He’s right there. Take advantage of it. Take His hand. Focus on Him. Rejoice and sing and smile and laugh, because our God is a GOOD God and our God SAVES.
