Fear No Fear

“Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11, MEV). God loves us enough to be with us in a fresh new way every day. God’s mercies renew every day (Lamentations 3:22-23). Our praises are meant to be renewed every day as well (Psalm 5:3). There is a DAILY component to our relationship with the Lord. In the same way that the food we ate yesterday can’t fuel our actions tomorrow, we need to get DAILY guidance, strength, and connection from the Lord. One or two days a week isn’t enough. Five minute devotions – even on a daily basis – aren’t enough. We need a real connection. Imagine wanting to have a healthy and fulfilling relationship with your spouse, but you only talk once a week. Or just facetime a few minutes a day. There is a reason that statistically, long-distance relationships fail. We are not built to interact in an intimate way from a distance. The only way a long-distance relationship works is when there is hope of a coming together in the future. And when that happens there is always an adjustment period. It’s not an easy life – as the spouses of anyone who works out of town on a regular basis will tell you. It is much easier to live with a spouse you see day to day. Where you can share life. Where you can connect. It comes with it’s own issues, but it is easier than where there is no chance to really connect face to face, one to one, in person. Our relationship with the Lord works the same way. He has chosen to interact with us. He has chosen to be one on one with us. To dwell inside us. To be available to us. To sustain a relationship, to walk with Him where He wants us to walk, we need an intimate relationship. It needs to be a DAILY relationship. We need to get the food that will fuel our spiritual life. We can’t fake it. We can’t pretend. We need real, actual, intimate connection. We need it daily. And we need it to be honest and true (John 4:24). God is Spirit, but He will make Himself more real to you than those living beside you. If you will connect with Him, He will connect with you. He’s there every day all day long and watches over you throughout the night. He is NEVER not available. He is ALWAYS with us. ALWAYS reaching out. He CHOOSES to. Choose back. Choose connection. Choose relationship. Choose Him. Every day.
