2026 Daily Affirmation #299

“The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; You support my lot” (Psalm 16:5, MEV). The Lord loves us enough to fill our cup. This is a refrain throughout scripture. “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” (Colossians 1:9, MEV). This is not an occasional thing. This is to be a DAILY thing. It’s a daily need. We don’t do well if we don’t drink every day and eat every day. How can we do well if we don’t receive from the Lord every day? We think of many other things that we ‘need’ to do before we launch out the door in the morning. For some it’s coffee, for some it’s exercise, for some it’s launching the kids. Mornings can be chaotic. Trying to cram everything in to prepare for the day before we head to work and start our slog. How many of us are praying when we open our eyes in the morning? Not a list of requests, but saying good morning to the Lord and thanking Him for another day (Psalm 5:3)? We might do our devotions or write something in our journals, but are we praising Him (Psalm 59:16)? Thanksgiving unlocks the door so that we can receive from Him. Worship from our hearts helps us keep Him in His rightful place, focusing our attention on who He is to us. Spending time with Him isn’t a chore. It shouldn’t be rushed (Psalm 46:10). It should almost be automatic. Reaching for the words to say as we climb out of sleep and into consciousness. Focusing on Him and what He has done for us as we begin our day. It doesn’t need to be a big production (Matthew 6:7). It simply needs to be from our heart (John 4:24). If we’re not ‘feeling’ it, we need to get more Word into us. We need to get our minds stayed on Him in the other times of the day so that we’ll be hungry for our time with Him. God is there ALL the time. He is ready to fill us up. He is ready to provide food for us. He is NOT holding back. We need to shift our mentality so that we are ready to receive. So that we are eager to receive. So that we are looking to Him, seeking Him, and thanking Him. God will fill our cup. Hold yours out. Hold it steady. Worship the Lord and renew yourself every single day. Why walk in staleness when we can be fresh, full, and satisfied with the GOOD things of God?
