“If there is any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any compassion and mercy, then fulfill my joy and be like-minded, having the same love, being in unity with one mind” (Philippians 2:1-2, MEV). God loves us enough to have provided to us Himself, in fullness, for us to live in as our example. We can’t do this ourselves. We need to be rooted in Jesus (John 15:5). More than that, we need to let Jesus live through us (Galatians 2:20). Jesus is the one who overcomes. Jesus is the one who finished it. Jesus is the one who succeeds. It is by Him, through Him, and because of Him that we can be who we are called to be. And we can ALL be this way. In Jesus. As a whole and as individuals. Resting in Him and letting Him live through us. It is how it works. It is how we can do it – by letting Him do it. This does NOT mean we are passive. On the contrary. It means we need to constantly and consistently choose Him. Whenever anything comes up, be it a small thing or a big thing, we have a choice. Are we going to trust in Him or are we going to trust in ourselves? There are things that God doesn’t instruct us about. He probably won’t tell you what socks to put on. He’ll back your choice. It might even be something bigger, not from lack of interest, but because you’ve already been taught what to do and He knows that you know. There are other things that God does instruct us about – and they can be things we already know about. It doesn’t have to be new stuff, huge stuff, or even purely spiritual stuff. Out of the blue He might guide us in something we know really well. There will ALWAYS be a reason God instructs us. ALWAYS a reason that God guides us. ALWAYS a reason God speaks. We might not see it. We might not understand it. But we WILL be able to trust it. To believe Him. To obey. It will also ALWAYS accord with His Word. Every time. No exceptions. We have access to the thoughts of God through Holy Spirit. He is not shy about sharing them and lifting us up to the level He sees us operating on. He is always encouraging us. We need to look to Him. We need to choose Him. We need to engage what He gives us. We need to choose to believe, trust, and obey. Consistently. It will change how we live our lives. It will always be worth it.
