“‘“Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb against you, saying, ‘As is the mother, so is her daughter.’ You are the daughter of your mother, who loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite. Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom with her daughters. Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done their abominations; but soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways. As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “Sodom your sister has not done, she nor her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters. “‘“Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters. She also didn’t strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. They were arrogant and committed abomination before me. Therefore I took them away when I saw it. Samaria hasn’t committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done. You also bear your own shame yourself, in that you have given judgment for your sisters; through your sins that you have committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than you. Yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.”
(Ezekiel 16:44-52)
“Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let’s do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.”
(Galatians 6:7-10)
God tells a parable. A story. A visual representation of what His people had done. Not only had they witnessed what the nations around them had done. Not only had they copied them. They had surpassed them to the point that the nations around them were disgusted. That is quite something considering these nations were being vomited out of the Land by the Land itself (Leviticus 18:28). God was going to let them suffer the consequences of their actions because again and again and again they had failed to turn to Him. To return to the covenant and keep it. They were seeding for their own destruction and they didn’t care because they thought they were above such things. They were high on the idea of who they were. They had forgotten what He had done for them. They had forgotten their need for a covenant. They had forgotten that they needed a Saviour.
This still goes on today. We as a species are so full of ourselves. God has used technology to speak His Word all over the globe. It hasn’t quite reached every human being, but it’s getting close. He is speaking through people, through ministers, through teachers, through evangelists, through videos, through teaching material, through the written word, through THE Word. He is using every single avenue that He can – which includes speaking to each heart through Holy Spirit. God is not shy in speaking. He needs us to know the truth. He needs us to be able to make a decision. Because a decision needs to be made. The harvest is coming. What seed have we been planting? What outcome is heading our way? What decision are we making?
Summary
One of our witnesses as followers of Jesus is to show people the goodness of God. To show how He is working in our lives. To show what He has done for us. To show them what He is capable of if they will just trust in Him. God shows off His goodness every single day, but people miss it. We need to be vocal in pointing it out. In sharing it. In speaking His Word. In getting the Gospel out. We don’t have to worry about WHAT to say because He will TELL US what to say. We have to be willing to open our mouths and say it. To step up and offer to pray with someone. To be the voice that says My God can do it! Jesus did that. The early Church did that. We see their example in the Word. We can be that same example. We can be like them. We can stand up and speak out and be willing to be in the right place at the right time with the right people. We CAN. The question is are you willing? Will you plant the right seed? Will you answer the call? Will you share Jesus? He’ll bring the people if you’re willing to speak and share. He’ll take care of the details. You only have to work on the willing part.
