“But the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who calls on the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”” (2 Timothy 2:19, MEV). God loves us enough to know who we are and let us know Him. God is infinite. God is bigger than all creation. And God has chosen to know your name. To know not only the number of hairs on your head, but to be able to identify each one of them individually by number. He has chosen to pay attention to us. He has chosen to know us. Each one of us. Personally. As if there was no one else that He had a relationship with. He is infinite, so He can do that. It’s amazing. And He does it. Which is MORE amazing. What is it about us that He loves so much? Why is it He has chosen to do this? There is no human explanation. We barely say good morning to people we see every single day of our lives during the morning commute to work. But God is different. He is God. He is unique. He is love. He is the One who has chosen to make us and treasure us. Because of that love and that attention and that placing of us in OUR unique position, He is there as our foundation. He is solid. Immovable. We can depend on Him like nothing and no one else. When this world is chaos and our systems are failing and bombs are dropping and people are at each other’s throats, He is there. Solid. Firm. We won’t fall down. Everything can shift and slide, He won’t. Everything can go topsy-turvy. He won’t. Everything can fail. He won’t. God is solid. Consistent. Constant. He can be relied on. He can be trusted. He can be believed. What a BLESSING that is! We will always know where we stand with Him because His Word shows us His moral character. His will. A look into His mind. Through Holy Spirit we have access to Jesus’ mind. We have guidance and teaching and correction. We can see where we are standing. We can feel its firmness. We can know that we know that we know. Secure. Solid. Dependable. That is what God is to us. That is what God is for us. When we give ourselves to Him and accept what He has done for us, we open the door to truly knowing Him and letting Him know us. When that happens, peace is there to become part of our atmosphere. Part of our daily lives. The world can panic and get anxious and depressed. We can be safe, secure, and full of Joy. Not because we are different than everyone else. Because we know God and HE is different than EVERYTHING else! Amen.
