Fear No Fear

“For they all saw Him and were troubled. Immediately He spoke to them and said, “Be of good cheer, it is I. Do not be afraid.”” (Mark 6:50. MEV). God loves us enough to live within us so we can be answered right away. Those under the Old Covenant had to pray and wait for their answers. Yes, the answers were given immediately, but they took time to reach the believers. Under the Renewed Covenant, Holy Spirit lives within us. There is no travel time. We immediately get a response from Him. Whether we are listening or not is another story. That’s the story that causes all our confusion and assumptions of silence. We KNOW that He hears our prayers when we are praying according to His will, which is His Word (1 John 5:14). That means whenever we are appropriately praying scripture (vs trying to appropriate it to get our will realised – James 4:3), we KNOW He hears us and we KNOW He answers us immediately. We don’t have to wait. It’s like He is sitting in the room with us, we turn to Him and ask a question, and He answers like we’re having a conversation. The question is whether or not we hear. Do we understand what He’s saying? If we aren’t regularly reading the Word seeking to understand it, we won’t have a frame of reference for what He’s saying. He might quote something to us to direct our attention to a passage, but we’ll miss it because we’re not familiar with it. He might speak, but we’re so busy talking at Him, begging Him, or trying to get our point across we drown Him out. Maybe we’ve spent so much time talking AT Him over the years, we’ve forgotten how to listen. We need to be quiet. We need to be listening. We need to hear what He says. We need to be willing to compare it with the Word. We need to be obedient to what we hear – every time. We need to be willing to take the time to understand it. The answer will come, but we need to lean into Him to that we get it. Sometimes it’s quick. Sometimes it takes time. But if we will not give up and continue to seek Him, we’ll get it. We’ll hear from Him and understand what He’s saying. We have a superior covenant with superior promises. One of those promises is that the communication lines are ALWAYS open. He is ALREADY doing His part. We need to do ours. When we seek, we WILL find.
