Fear No Fear

“I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, but she did not repent” (Revelation 2:21, MEV). God gives us time to repent. Do we use it? THAT is the question. Because it isn’t unlimited time. It doesn’t have to be over huge things. ALL of scripture is useful for correction (2 Timothy 3:16). Whatever we find in the Word that Holy Spirit is talking to us about, whatever that thing is that we’ve never seen that way before, that is something we need to humbly submit to. Maybe it’s about a way we speak. Maybe it’s about an action we do. Maybe it’s a way of thinking. Or something we’ve been putting before our eyes that isn’t ‘evil’ per se, but certainly isn’t godly. Maybe it’s a prayer we’ve been praying wrong. Someone that comes to mind that needs prayer or a restored relationship. It could be anything. Maybe it’s even that we’ve been looking at God the wrong way on an issue. Thinking that He is A, when in fact, His point of view is B or D or Q. All sorts of things can be off course in our walk with the Lord. He knows that. He is merciful and full of grace. He gives us time to repent. He encourages us to repent. To turn around on that issue and align ourselves with Him. But repentance time is not unlimited. He is not our bro from High School giving us a suggestion. He is our Lord and King. He commands us and we are to obey. That is our good and faithful service. It’s how we are meant to respond. It is proper. When He says, we should be doing. True, our time of repentance might not be a countdown to an earth-shaking event. But it also might be. That part doesn’t matter. What matters is that we get given time to correct our thinking (Romans 12:2). Whether it is big or whether it is small, when we are given time to repent we are to TAKE IT. Do what He says. Get your thinking in line with His. It is ALWAYS a good thing.
