Fear No Fear

“But where will wisdom be found?
    Where is the place of understanding?
Man doesn’t know its price,
    and it isn’t found in the land of the living.
The deep says, ‘It isn’t in me.’
    The sea says, ‘It isn’t with me.’
It can’t be gotten for gold,
    neither will silver be weighed for its price.
It can’t be valued with the gold of Ophir,
    with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.^[a]
Gold and glass can’t equal it,
    neither will it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.
No mention will be made of coral or of crystal.
    Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
The topaz of Ethiopia will not equal it.
    It won’t be valued with pure gold.
Where then does wisdom come from?
    Where is the place of understanding?”
(Job 28:12-20)

“He has given food to those who fear him.
    He always remembers his covenant.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
    in giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are truth and justice.
    All his precepts are sure.
They are established forever and ever.
    They are done in truth and uprightness.
He has sent redemption to his people.
    He has ordained his covenant forever.
    His name is holy and awesome!
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.
    All those who do his work have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever!”
(Psalm 111:5-10)

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving, praying together for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds, that I may reveal it as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.“
(Colossians 4:2-6)

True righteous wisdom is difficult to acquire. We can’t work for it. We can’t strive for it. We can’t dig it up in tomes of ancient human thinking. We can’t pool our resources and talk it into existence. We need wisdom. True righteous wisdom. Sometimes, like Job and his friends, we claim wisdom. Sometimes we talk about it with such fervour we almost praise it. But for all of that, we often miss it. Because true righteous wisdom isn’t about what WE do. It’s about where we look.

Rejoicing in Adonai is what unlocks our ability to receive true righteous wisdom. That wisdom is His. When we look at ourselves and then look at Him and praise Him for being who He is and in the position that He is in, that is when wisdom can come knocking. We need it from the Source. We need to revere God AS God. As THE God. Yahweh, God Almighty, King of the Universe. Our Lord. Our Saviour. Our Source. When we worship Him and give Him thanksgiving, that is when we are open to receiving from Him. And it is from Him that true righteous wisdom comes.

We pray, we give thanksgiving, and like picking up a phone it open the channel between us and God so that we can receive what He is offering. When we are connected to Him through Jesus, wisdom is available to us. We have open to us the Mind of Messiah. We can benefit from the wisdom God has. We can use it to walk through this world and be the Light He has commanded us to. To be the Salt He has commanded us to. To be the BLESSING He has commanded us to. It all starts with our worship, thanksgiving, and prayers to God Almighty.

Summary

Our Father has many things for us. There are no real limits to what He has for us. But we can access none of it without being in alignment with His point of view. We prosper in all areas of life, but we do it spiritually first (3 John 2). It takes true righteous wisdom to successfully navigate this life. We NEED it. And God has it for us. We can ask and He gives it (James 1:5). We ask with thanksgiving. We ask with prayer. We ask in worship. We ask by reverencing God and putting Him in His rightful place. It all starts with us humbly submitting to what is good, proper, and right. He won’t leave us hanging. He won’t abandon us. He will be there for us and with us. Always. He is our Source. Lean into Him and receive what He’s offering.
